Welcome to St Etheldreda's, a beautiful and historic Roman Catholic Church in the heart of London. It is wonderful to see so many people coming to this church at one o'clock on weekdays to experience the peace of Christ in the middle of their working day. We see it as a vital part of our ministry simply to offer to people an oasis of calm, a river of peace, in the midst of the din and the stress of the world that surrounds us. The building itself is of course part of it, with its rare beauty and ancient, palpable silence. We know from experience that these moments of sacramental contact with the fountain of all peace, these moments of intimacy with the Prince of Peace, dispel distractions, put us back in touch with reality, change our mood, and more than that, change our lives.
